Management Training – When Colleagues Fight

As a manager, you have many roles. One such job is that of mediator (neutral) and sometimes arbiter (decision maker). And as we discuss in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, there are times when you will need to employ these skills.

As much as we managers want team work, there are lots of human ingredients pulling people in the opposite direction from cooperation/collaboration. Differing personalities, values, skill levels, EQ-Total Life Intelligence and more guarantees that people will not always see eye to eye. During our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, we take you through many skills and insights to help your periodic interventions.

In addition to being versed in asked powerful questions and listening with Level II intensity, a key to successful mediation is to suspend judgements. The internal component of humans that doesn’t like yielding to neutrality is the ego. When you participate in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, we take a look at the part of the human mind that likes judging others (from biases that have nothing to do with a professional approach).

Suspending egoic judgements takes two of the four quadrants of EQ-Total Life Intelligence: Self-awareness and Self-management. When you sit your two disagreeing team members down, it’s best to consciously put yourself in a state of mind of neutral curiosity about what’s going on. Don’t look to "fix" things right away but rather assume the role of detective to uncover both sides of the argument. We cover how to do this this further in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC.

Presentation Training – Enunciating

Enunciate definition – "to utter or pronounce (words, sentences, etc.), especially in an articulate or a particular manner."

Sounds simple doesn’t it. But have you really spent time and attention focusing on how clearly the words are coming out of your mouth? In our presentation training course and presentation training seminar, we play with enunciating in a way that is fun but informative.

Everyone has an accent. And like everyone, you have a unique physical combination of mouth size, lip formation, tongue structure, and palate shape. As we talk about in in our presentation training course and presentation training seminar, that is both good news and bad news.

The good news about your unique sound-making attributes is that it makes you distinctive as a presenter. No one else on the planet sounds just like you. And In the presentation training course and presentation training seminar that we deliver to your group onsite, you get to experience that how you use your uniqueness either sets you apart for positive or negative audience impressions.

So the bad news is that if you don’t find ways to be seen as an interesting and engaging presenter, you will fail your audiences in their eyes. But all improved presentation techniques can be learned. However you have been forming words (enunciating) up until now can be improved (with practice). And that’s where our presentation expert trainers help you during our presentation training course and presentation training seminar.

Management Training – Resignation

One perspective about managing-leading is that you should never be resigned to anything; that you should always take stands and move your managing forward. But in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, we take an additional look at that.

When might it be wise to consciously be resigned? For instance, it is most likely that you’ve had decisions or initiatives handed down to you from upper management that were not your preferred way forward. But your job (in addition to putting your two cents in about what you see could be most successful), is to implement the new directive. In our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, we discuss the difference in energy and modeling between being in resistance about the way forward or in acceptance (resignation).

On a personal level, you may have an employee or two who don’t appeal to you. You would never choose them as friends. But if their professional skills are what you need and their personal impact on team culture good enough, it makes sense for you to be more accepting of who and how they are instead of having "dislike" be a toxicity within you. The discussions about this in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC, can be quite interesting.

So resistance and resignation are choices. Often not easy, but ultimately choosing acceptance is more satisfying and leads to better results. These and many, many other managing challenges are part of the rich material explored in our management training class Philadelphia, management training program Atlanta and management training Washington DC.
